My week in Review

This week was absolutely gorgeous, and I am loving the transition to Spring even if it means my allergies are going a little crazy.

This week I:

Tried two new recipes!

Orange Chicken                                                   French Bread

1. Orange Chicken made from this recipe.  It was FANTASTIC, the sauce was amazing and I would definitely recommend it!

2. French bread. This was the dough before I put it in the oven. It was extremely easy to make and tasted so fresh and awesome.

I also started my Spring cleaning regime with my Closet.

Recently I decided to really revamp my wardrobe, but investing in good pieces, and making sure I am wearing everything I own. I ended up taking a couple of bags to  Goodwill, and I probably be taking more and more as I clean through the house.

I am a huge goal setter. One of my goals for the 22nd year of my life is to learn coding and HTML and such. I know it is a useful skill, so this week I started using Code Academy, and I love it so far. I will let you know how it all goes!

How was your week? Did you celebrate National Margarita Day?

Channeling my Inner Blair Waldorf

blair-waldorf 1

I am an unashamed Gossip Girl fan, and I love Blair. However, I am nothing like her. She is fierce, relentless, sabotaging , and sometimes just mean. Though I admire her strength, I rarely find a reason to look to her for advice.

This week is different. I am facing a real hardship, finding a great job. You want to find an occupation that will bring you happiness and simultaneously achieve your career goals.  So, I have a new approach. For the next week I am channeling my inner Blair Waldorf. I know who I am, and what I deserve so I am going to fight for it. Though she is hardly a hero when it comes to emotions, compassion, or relationships, Blair Waldorf knows how to get what she wants and she never apologizes.

I’ll let you know how it goes but for now I am off to break out my headbands, and drink a dirty martini.

Much love,

P.S. If you don’t know anything about Blair Waldorf, check out some episodes on Netflix, you wont regret it.

Writing the perfect Thank You Note

Thank you note example

I adore gifts. I particularly enjoy giving a great gift. I also love writing a good thank you note. In fact, I received a gift from a dear friend just this morning, and I just put her thank you card in the mail a few moments ago.  Writing a Thank You Note is an essential tool in today’s world. It may seem old fashioned, however I believe an email isn’t sufficient. Luckily, the art of thank you notes is quite easy once it’s made into a habit.

The first essential is the paper. I always use pre-made thank you cards from TJ Maxx, because they are usually adorable, and relatively inexpensive. However if you have some personal stationary or favorite card, almost anything will do. The paper can be a way to show your personality, but it should also fit the situation.

The second essential is the content. You should always mention the gift, and how and when you intend to use it. For example, “Grandma, thank you so much for the new necklace, I cannot wait to wear it!”or “Aunt Sally, thank you for you giftcard to J. Crew, I have had my eye on a new pencil skirt, and now I have the perfect occasion to purchase it.”  I always add a bit of personal flair and a compliment to my thank you cards just to ensure people know I appreciate the time and money they put into my gift.

The third essential is the address. Always make sure you keep addresses in your phone or address book to make for a speedy process. If you don’t have a person’s address, just check the box or ask them.

Fourth, and most important is timeliness. I know after a birthday or wedding, sending lots of thank you cards can seem entirely daunting, but writing notes in a timely fashion shows consideration and respect.  I always try to send my thank you cards within a couple of days, but a week and 1/2 is a good deadline.

Hope these help!
